What Can an OHIP Billing Agent Do For You?
An OHIP billing agent is:
- An expert in all things billing-related. They can ensure you are coding correctly and maximally, and will make corrections where needed to ensure that you are properly paid for all of the medical services you perform.
- Someone who deals with more than just OHIP claims. An agent will process out-of-province, IFH, private insurer and direct to patient claims. They will take the time to fill out forms and retrieve patient records as required, to ensure payment.
- Someone who will track down version codes and other missing or outdated information, and resubmit your claims in a timely manner (i.e. within the same billing period).
- Someone who can answer billing-related inquiries. Are you offering new services in your office? Joining the Ontario Telehealth Network? Starting to see refugee patients? A billing agent will advise you on how to properly bill for new services, and help you register with OTN or IFH so that you can submit claims through these programs.
- Someone who will ultimately pay for themselves by recovering payments that are currently being left on the table.
